Sustainable Travel,

Small Footprints, Big Adventures

Let’s face it Gippsland is one of the most pristine and stunning regions in Australia and certainly ranks on a Global scale. From the rivers, lakes and mountains and oceans and wetlands, the Gippsland region has a lot to offer and intrepid traveller.

Gippsland boasts 2 of the 66 Australian Ramsar sites. The Convention on Wetlands, called the Ramsar Convention, is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of wetlands and their resources.

How Can We Make A Difference?

As a local that spends time driving around this region there is nothing more disgusting than seeing the amount of rubbish that is in the gutters on the side of the road. A lot time we see it driving though the mountain regions and off the main highways.

What are the big three we see most of?

  • The dreaded plastic bag!
  • Soft drink, beer cans and takeaway coffee cups
  • Packaging from the big takeaways

What can we do?

It makes sense to look at our own behaviours and consumer habits first.

  • Swap to quality reusable products rather than single use products.
  • Shop ethically and locally
  • Boycott companies that don’t have ethical policies

These are the essential things that we rely on daily and highly recommend.
